Commission Against Domestic Violence
Everyone Deserves to be Safe!
Home
The Pierce County Commission Against Domestic Violence (the Commission) was established by Pierce County Council Ordinance in 1994 to create a coordinated community plan focusing efforts primarily on intimate partner violence and sexual assault. The Commission consists of 49 individual and agency member positions along with a variety of community partners and allies.

Intimate partner violence is a serious problem in Pierce County as well as nationally. Our region's populous urban areas, island and mountain communities, military bases, tribal lands, and rural areas present a challenge in developing an effective, coordinated response to intimate partner violence.

The Commission has chosen to focus its strategic plan and the accompanying prevention plan on the
primary prevention of intimate partner violence.
